Notes
CBSL 'Rates and Indicators' Exchange Rates page, IF_End_of_the_Month_Exchange_Rates.xlsx (International Finance Statistics reporting line). See check_eom_vs_last_daily(): differs from the Data Library's daily TT mid rate by more than a rounding amount most months, a real methodology gap kept as printed.

Source discrepancies

What the warehouse found when it checked this series: the same figure from two agencies, splice overlaps, published rates against ones recalculated from the index, and outliers.

  • For information

This series and the same figure from another source differ over the period they share. Compared with LK.EXT.FX.AUD.BUY.D.

    Two agencies: , difference −4.272.

AUD: IF_End_of_the_Month file vs the Data Library's daily TT mid on the last business day on record each month.

AUD: IF_End_of_the_Month_Exchange_Rates.xlsx (CBSL's IMF/IFS reporting rate) vs the Data Library's daily commercial-bank TT mid on the last business day on record each month. AUD in particular carries a striking one-year anomaly: the file's month-end rate runs about 60 LKR for all twelve months of 2005 while the TT mid on the same days runs 75-88 LKR (~20%), not seen in any other year, currency, or in the Monthly-Average file's own AUD 2005 figures (those track the TT mean-of-month within 0.1 LKR for 11 of 12 months) - and one comparison point on the held side is itself implausible (the Library's AUD daily mid on 2005-12-30 is 0.87 against neighbouring days around 75). Neither file is corrected.
