Privacy
What Macro Lab keeps about you, why, and how to have it removed.
Reading the site
You don't need an account to read or download anything. There are no adverts, no analytics and no tracking cookies. Like any website, the server and Cloudflare, which delivers the pages, record each request (the address it came from, the page and the time) to keep the site running and safe. Those records are kept for up to 90 days.
If you use the dark theme, your browser remembers that choice, and once you sign in it remembers that you have an account. Both stay on your device and are never sent to us.
If you have an account
We keep:
- your email address, when the account was created and when you last used it;
- for each device you are signed in on, a session: when it started, when it was last used and when it ends (30 days after its last use);
- for each sign-in link we send, when it expires and whether it was used. These are deleted after a day;
- the series you save (up to 10), and when you saved each;
- your update-email setting (off, after each update or weekly), and when we last emailed you.
We use your email address only to send you sign-in links and, if you turn them on, emails about new figures for your saved series. Update emails are off until you turn them on, and each one has a link that stops them. We don't send newsletters, and we don't sell or share your address with anyone.
These emails are sent by Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES, in Mumbai) on our behalf, so your address and the email pass through their systems.
The cookie that keeps you signed in is needed for your account to work. It is the only cookie Macro Lab sets, and only after you sign in.
Removing it
Delete your account from Profile settings, and everything above goes at once. An account nobody has used for two years is deleted in the same way.
