        About these figures

        • Every row is a series of its own, with its full history to download: the US, euro area, UK and Japanese rates under Interest rates, the currencies under External sector, oil and the Pink Sheet under Prices and inflation.
        • The rupee rates are the Central Bank's daily figures: the US dollar's interbank spot rate, and for the other currencies the commercial banks' average telegraphic transfer (TT) selling rate, the rate at which they sell the currency. The yen is in rupees per yen to two decimals, as the Central Bank prints it. The euro in US dollars is the ECB's reference rate. The Federal Reserve's daily dollar rates (H.10) come out a week at a time, so they are under External sector rather than here.
        • The euro area's 10-year yield is the ECB's AAA curve, fitted to the bonds of the euro area's AAA-rated governments, not a single country's bond. The UK's is the Bank of England's 10-year par yield. Sri Lanka's is the bid/offer average for bonds with 9 to 10 years to run (Yield curve).
        • The ECB publishes its key rates only on the day they change; here each is carried forward to every weekday until the next change. Sri Lanka's overnight policy rate dates from November 2024.
