National selected public health personnel counts, 1996-2024 (2011 printed 'n.a.' throughout - kept as printed, no values load for that year). Compiled by the Medical Statistics Unit. Same family as 2.39 (public health personnel by district, 2021-2024): the row categories are the same list (Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons, Reg./Asst. Medical Officers, Nurses, Nursing Sisters, Inspectors, Midwives, Hospital Midwives), this table's bare codes (e.g. MEDICAL_OFFICERS) do not collide with 2.39's region-prefixed ones (e.g. COLOMBO_MEDICAL_OFFICERS). District sums agree with this table's national figures for 2021-2024 except: 'Nurses(c)' is consistently ~15-18% below the district sum every year (2.39's own printed district Total row shows the same gap against this table, e.g. 2021: 49,765 vs 42,894 - a real disagreement between the two tables, kept as printed, not a parser fault); and 2024's 'Reg. / Asst. Medical Officers' (259) equals this table's own 2024 Nursing Sisters figure (also 259) rather than 2.39's district-summed 428 - almost certainly a source data-entry error in the 2026 edition's 2.38 sheet (one cell repeating the neighbouring column's value), kept as printed per this project's rule against silently fixing source errors.
