- Notes
- CBSL Economic and Social Statistics, table 2.10. Compiled by National Transport Commission. Operated/passenger/freight kilometres and fleet by province for the same three operators as 2.6/2.7/private bus permits, compiled by the National Transport Commission from Sri Lanka Transport Board and Sri Lanka Railways data (both named in the Sources). A distinct family from SLTB/RAILWAYS: this is the province breakdown of a different, NTC-compiled set of indicators, not a like-for-like repeat of 2.6/2.7's own rows (different item labels throughout), so no @ESS mirroring is expected between them. 'All Island' is loaded as its own series - the provinces are checked to sum to it, and do for Sri Lanka Railways and Sri Lanka Transport Board (48/48). Every 'Private Bus Services' indicator's province sum falls short of All Island (35/35 checked, off by roughly 3,000-3,200 buses/units every year) - footnote (b) on the All Island column explains it: it 'includes the data related to the inter-provincial permits issued by the National Transport Commission as well', buses not attributable to one province, so this is not an error.
