Chained at single link years (1982 x3.993630 at 1996; 1970 x17.379708 at 1982), so every growth rate of the older bases is kept. Ends where the next segment begins: nothing bridges the 1996 and 2002 bases, and the two sides measure different things - factor cost before, market prices after - so 2001 to 2002 is a break, not a join. 1973: table 1.2 prints the 1972 value again for 1973; table 1.3's total of 14,138 is used, which its sectors sum to.
